Here’s a quick tune to pipe out the haggis after the address, called “Neil Gow’s Farewell to Whisky.” It’s a follow up to the tune for piping in the haggis I posted last week.
Have a listen while you enjoy a few pics from the gig I played at the Google campus in Kitchener.
When I met with Head Chef Tamara from Lifeworks Restaurant Group at the Google Tannery Building, she said to me, “Wow! You really must love piping to change your work schedule for it!” In my head I was thinking, “Are you kidding me! How many people get to step inside a Google campus, let alone play the bagpipes there?!?!”
As I learned, the chefs at Google really try to keep things exciting and fresh. They do so by creating a healthy menu and having fun by celebrating cultural events throughout the year. They tried to make this Robbie Burns celebration as traditional as possible by parading the haggis around the café before lunch and dinner service.
One of the chefs (who I later learned had spent time in the Scottish regiment, The Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders of Hamilton) then performed the address to the haggis before serving it to hundreds of hungry Googlers.
