Last weekend, Emily and I attended the grand opening of the Wilmot Splash Pad at the Wilmot Recreation Complex in Baden, Ontario. This day was years in the making and was a great chance for our community to celebrate its achievement! Even the overcast skies and threat of rain didn’t do anything to dampen the community’s spirit.
For the opening ceremony, I had the pleasure of piping in local dignitaries, including politicians, Lion’s Club members, and Angie Hallman, chair of the Bring A Splash Pad to Wilmot campaign.
Of course, the opening culminated with the water being turned on for the first time and children enjoying their new place to play and stay cool and active during the hot summer months to come. A crew from CTV News was there to capture it all, as well as a reporter for the local paper, The New Hamburg Independent.
Thank you to Angie for inviting me to share a wee bit of Scottish music with our local community.

PS. If anyone had asked, I may or may not have packed a towel just in case extra volunteers were needed to “test” the splash pad!
