This past weekend, I had the pleasure of piping for a wedding at Legends Estates Winery, a beautiful winery situated on the shores of Lake Ontario.
As soon as we pulled into the winery’s driveway, we were greeted by this old flatbed truck, transporting barrels of wine, in no great hurry, to some far off place. (Or at least that’s how Emily imagines it!)
While waiting for the bride and groom to arrive, guests enjoyed a glass or two of wine and tried to stay cool as the thermometer climbed to over 31°C (+40°C if you include the humidity)! Luckily, I was able to find a shady tree to play under for my hour-long performance.
It’s funny, in Scotland, pipers have to worry about avoiding the rain; for this wedding, I had to worry about avoiding heat stroke!
To the happy couple, Sláinte Mhath!
