#TuneTuesday | Scotland the Brave

If you’ve ever heard someone play the bagpipes before, you’ve likely heard one of two tunes, “Amazing Grace” or this week’s #TuneTuesday, “Scotland the Brave”.

While the lyrics are a modern addition, this tune dates back to the early 1900s. This particular setting comes from the bible of bagpipe tunes, the Scots Guards Volume I.

I chose this week’s tune because, for the first time, a family recently requested I play “Scotland the Brave” during a funeral. I was more than happy to oblige as it added some brightness to what otherwise could be an all too somber day.
