This past Saturday, I played for a memorial service in Cambridge. For this service, the tune “Calon Lan” was requested by the deceased to be played at his funeral as he had really enjoyed the Welsh boys choir Only Boys Aloud singing it on the show, Britain’s Got Talent.
As I had never played this tune before, I relied on Google to find the sheet music for it. Luckily, this tune is a traditional Welsh hymn that is also commonly sung at Welsh rugby games, so it was fairly easy to find and not copyrighted. I enjoy learning new tunes for gigs as it adds to my repertoire and increases customer satisfaction.
