#TuneTuesday | Duncan Johnstone

Pile of Bagpipes

Since this week’s #TuneTuesday has been left to me to write, I thought I’d flip through the book the tune comes from – “Scots Guards Standard Settings of Pipe Music Volume II.” The forward is written by His Royal Highness, The Duke of Kent, Colonel of the Scots Guards and is dated October, 1980. In it, the Duke writes about “the ever growing popularity of the Pipes.” I think he was onto something!

35 years on, it amuses me to think about what the same Duke of Kent (he’s held the title since 1942) must think about the popularity of bagpipes today and, if he knew about it, what our little blog is doing to help build that popularity.

Today’s #TuneTuesday is number 774 in the book and is called “Duncan Johnstone” by Pipe Major Donald MacLeod, MBE.

Enjoy and stay “tuned” for next week’s #TuneTuesday!
