This week’s #TuneTuesday falls on the eve of Her Royal Highness, Queen Elizabeth II becoming the longest reigning British Monarch in history. In doing so, she surpasses the record previously held by her great-great grandmother, Queen Victoria.
In honour of Her Majesty, this week’s tune is called “Queen Elizabeth’s March” and was recorded beneath the Queen Victoria statue in Kitchener’s Victoria Park.
Given the time period in which the composer, Pipe Major Willie Ross lived, it’s likely this tune was actually written for Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth, The Queen Mother. Nevertheless, it’s still fitting to help mark tomorrow’s momentous occasion.
Long Live The Queen!
