I’ve been playing this week’s #TuneTuesday “Danny Boy” since I learned it while playing with the Paris Port Dover Pipe Band. It is most commonly associated with Irish communities, although the lyrics were actually written by an Englishman. To be more correct, the tune I am playing is actually called the “Londonderry Air,” which the lyrics of “Danny Boy” were later set to for the most commonly heard version of the song. This tune is frequently requested for funerals and other events.
Enjoy and stay “tuned” for next week’s #TuneTuesday!
